Installing Language Support for Windows XP/2000

How to install Tamil Language support to windows XP / 2000.

Requirements.

1. Windows XP / 2000 installed PC

2. Minimum of 200MB Hard disk space to install fonts and scripts.

3. Windows XP installation CD.

Steps

1. Go to Control Panel

2. Go to Date Time , Language options

Select Regional and Language Options

Go to Regional Languages –> Languages Tab –>

Tick on Install Complex scripts (option 1) and Install files for east Asian languages (option 2). image009

It will require you to insert Windows XP Installation CD.

After installing it will ask for a reboot. Reboot the Machine and again go to control panel, regional settings and languages options.

Click on Details –> Text Services and Input Languages

Click on ADD to add desired languages.

Now you can Shift to languages by pressing ALT+SHIFT between buttons.

You can also configure key settings, language bar options.

UNICODE is natively supported in all windows XP/2000 programs.

You can use in WordPad, Notepad, Paint, You can use IN MSN Messenger, (Yahoo messenger is not supported with Unicode), Email Clients such as outlook, windows live desktop mail, thunderbird.

It is supported with most web mail clients.
